First Day of School

on September 3, 2013

So this happened a week and a half ago:

First Day of School

I’m not really sure how it happened, since we brought him home from the hospital, like, a day ago.  But the proof is right there standing on my front steps, with a sly smile and the pride of a 5-year-old on his first day.  He loves school, by the way, which is no surprise to anyone, since he loves people.  And wants to be around people ALL THE TIME.  His teacher is wonderful and he made friends his first day.  I’m happy for him.  And also a little sad.  For so long it’s just been us, all seven of us, but you know what I mean.  People will influence him and I have no control over that.  This is the beginning of us finding out who he is on his own.  It’s exciting, and also terrifying.  Wonderful, crazy, hard.  It’s all of that.  I’ve never really understood what it means to leave someone in God’s hands until now.  But there are really no better hands to be in.

“The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.” Deuteronomy 31:8
